Poland has extended temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until June 30, 2024. According to information from Prawo.pl, this decision was made by the Polish Sejm. However, Polish lawmakers refused to extend temporary protection for Ukrainian citizens until March 4, 2025, as proposed in the EU Council decision.
You can apply for temporary protection and for PESEL in town halls and in some specially designated places (stadiums in big cities). You can choose any seat, regardless of your location. Registration of citizens of Ukraine is carried out using any document confirming the data you provide in the application, including your identity. If there is no such document, then signing the statement is legally equivalent to a statement that your data is correct.
The application for receiving temporary protection is submitted in person. The presence of a child under the age of 12 when submitting an application is not mandatory, except in cases where his identity is established on the basis of the application. The application is submitted on behalf of the child by one of the parents, a guardian, a temporary guardian appointed by the guardianship and care court, or a person who actually represents the interests of the child. Children under the age of 12 cannot be fingerprinted.
