The court can limit the civil legal capacity of a natural person if he abuses alcoholic beverages, narcotic drugs, toxic substances, gambling, etc. and thus puts himself or his family, as well as other persons whom he is obliged to support by law, into financial hardship situation (Article 36 of the Civil Code of Ukraine). An application to limit the civil legal capacity of an individual may be submitted by members of his family, a guardianship and guardianship body, an institution providing psychiatric care.
