What does SAP do?

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is an independent structural subdivision of the Prosecutor General's Office (as a Department), subordinate to the Deputy Prosecutor General - the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

The main tasks and functions of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office:

1. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine supervises the observance of laws during operational investigative activities, pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses.

2. Compliance with the requirements of the law during the acceptance, registration, consideration and resolution of applications and notifications of criminal offenses, timely entry of information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations.

3. Provision of quick, complete and impartial investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine of criminal offenses and appeal of illegal court decisions at the stage of pre-trial investigation and trial.

4. Prevention of illegal bringing of a person to criminal responsibility and unjustified application of procedural coercion measures to him, fulfillment of the requirements of the law on the inevitability of responsibility for a committed criminal offense.

5. Provision of free legal aid to suspects and accused persons in cases stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

6. Maintaining a public prosecution in court in criminal proceedings investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine.

7. Ensuring within the scope of competence compensation for damages caused by criminal offenses.

8. Ensuring the application of due legal procedure to each participant in criminal proceedings.

9. Representation of the state's interests in court in cases provided for by the Law of Ukraine "On the Prosecutor's Office" and related to corruption or corruption-related offenses, as well as in cases of recognition of assets as unfounded and their collection into state income.

10. Implementation within the framework of the implementation of the functions of the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office of international cooperation.
