The draft law on multiple citizenship

Ukraine will consider a law on multiple citizenship for the descendants of Ukrainians who left the country at various times and went to Europe, the USA, Canada, Asian countries, and Latin America. They also want to give Ukrainian passports to foreign volunteers, but not to Russian citizens. The text of the document appeared on the website of the parliament. According to Article 4 of the Constitution of Ukraine, there is a single citizenship in Ukraine.

On February 26, 2021, the National Security and Defense Council instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to develop a draft law on persons with dual citizenship.

On September 22, 2021, Zelensky proposed to grant dual citizenship to Ukrainians living abroad.

At the beginning of December 2021, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced draft law No. 6368 on multiple citizenship to the Verkhovna Rada, but the document was never considered.
