In accordance with parts 390-396 of Article 1 of the Law of the Italian Republic No. 213 of December 30, 2023, the temporary protection of Ukrainian citizens affected by the war has been extended in Italy until December 31, 2024.

If you belong to the number of persons entitled to temporary protection, it is sufficient to apply for a residence permit for temporary protection to the police department at your place of residence. This application is free.

At the police station, you will be fingerprinted and asked to provide your personal data, passport or other identity documents. In addition, you will be issued a receipt for submitting an application, which you must always have with you until the day of issuing a residence permit for temporary protection.

The main police department will call you to receive a residence permit.

You can check the progress of the residence permit on the website www.poliziadistato.it

The receipt (la ricevuta) for submitting an application for a residence permit already gives you the opportunity to use all the rights of temporary protection.

If you have arrived in Italy with a person under the age of 18, you must immediately report their presence to the public security authority nearest to your place of residence.
