Doctor's liability for incorrect diagnosis

22.04.2026 19:55 • Question

I read that in Kyiv, a doctor will be tried for a patient's death after an incorrect diagnosis, and she faces up to two years of restricted freedom or imprisonment. I'm curious, how is it generally determined whether a doctor is actually guilty in such a situation? If, for example, a patient was not immediately given an accurate diagnosis, but the doctor acted according to their knowledge, could this still be a crime? I would like to understand what a doctor can expect in court if accused of negligence.
