Appointment of judges by the President: is it all legal?

I saw the news that President Zelensky signed decrees appointing 9 judges to the Central Commercial Court of Appeal immediately after open competitions. I'm curious whether the President has the right to independently appoint judges and what guarantees ensure that this process is transparent and fair? Are there perhaps additional control mechanisms or ways to challenge such an appointment if there are doubts about the transparency or selection of candidates?
