Compensation for repairs under the eRecovery program

15.12.2025 13:10 • Question

I submitted an application for compensation for damaged housing through the eRecovery program, but I read that compensation amounts are now calculated at new, increased rates, although maximum payouts have not changed. If the cost of my repairs now exceeds the compensation limit due to these updates, am I entitled to receive full compensation, or will I have to pay the difference myself?

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the decision to update the indicators of the average cost of repair works, which are used to calculate compensation for damaged housing within the 'eRecovery' program. The relevant resolution comes into effect on January 5, 2026. This will allow for a more accurate consideration of current market prices and ensure more effective housing repair. Updating the indicators will allow compensation for damaged housing to be calculated in accordance with real market prices. The commission will, as before, inspect the housing, determine the extent of damage, and the list of necessary works. In the checklists that will be generated after January 5, the cost of each type of work will already be taken into account at new prices. Therefore, the amounts of compensation will increase, and people will receive more funds to pay for repairs. In the future, the cost of works in the checklist will be updated annually — according to market changes. The maximum compensation amounts currently remain unchanged. The maximum payment for minor current repairs of damaged housing is up to UAH 200,000, for major repairs of apartments — up to UAH 350,000, and for major repairs of damaged private houses — up to UAH 500,000.
