Sick leave during additional leave for UBD

I am a combatant and I am currently taking additional leave. If I become ill during this leave and receive a sick note, why are the sick days within the additional leave not paid, and sick leave only begins to be paid after I return to work? Does the law truly allow the employer not to pay for these days if my incapacity for work coincides with UBD leave?
