Responsibility for assisting illegal migrants

I read that drivers have been detained in Poland on suspicion of transporting illegal immigrants who entered through an underground tunnel from Belarus. I'm interested in what consequences a regular person might face if they give a ride to foreigners, unaware of their status, and whether they can be held legally responsible for it?
