Is it legal to buy a Christmas tree without a tag?

I noticed that at official Christmas tree markets and forestries, each tree must have a special legal tag. If I buy a Christmas tree at an unregulated market without this tag, can I be fined in any way, or is there any liability for such a purchase? I want to understand whether it's worth the risk to buy a cheaper tree without documents, or if it could lead to legal problems for me.
