Can I cut down a Christmas tree myself for New Year?

I read that New Year's trees are officially sold at forestries and special markets, and you can even pre-order them. But what if I cut down a Christmas tree in the forest myself for the holidays? Is this generally legal, or could I face a fine or something more serious for it?

It is strictly forbidden to illegally cut down a fir tree in a forest or plantation. If a fir tree is illegally cut down in a forest, a fine of 510 to 1020 hryvnias can be imposed. If a person is fined for the illegal felling of any trees in a forest not for the first time in a year, the fine is 1020–1530 hryvnias. For officials, a larger fine is provided — 2550–5100 hryvnias. If a fir tree is cut down within a settlement, a fine of 170–510 hryvnias is provided for ordinary people, and 510–850 hryvnias for an official or entrepreneur.Furthermore, the legislation provides not only for administrative responsibility and a fine, but also criminal liability. This is stated in Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It provides for: restriction of liberty for up to 3 years; if the same actions are committed repeatedly by a person and in conspiracy with a group of persons, they face restriction or deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 to 5 years.
