Is it mandatory to have your own helmet for a motorcycle test?

I am going to take a practical exam for category A or A1 and do not have my own motorcycle helmet. If I take the exam on a driving school's motorcycle, will I be forced to buy my own helmet, or can I somehow do without it? What are the consequences if I come without a helmet, and can they provide me with one on site?
