Military service and insurance record for pension

I served compulsory military service until 2005 and am now planning to apply for a pension. Do I necessarily need to submit any additional documents if there is no record of service in my employment book, and how exactly will this period be counted towards my insurance record? I am very worried that part of my pensionable service might be lost because of this.
