Life sentence for a deputy for an explosion in a village council: nuances

I read the news that a deputy was sentenced to life imprisonment for a terrorist attack with grenades during a village council session, where people were injured. I am interested if it is possible to appeal such a sentence in Ukraine, if the convicted person did not fully admit their guilt, or if new evidence appears — and is it realistic in the future to change the life sentence to a shorter one?
