Assault on a lawyer: is the punishment for the attackers adequate?

I read in the news that in Kyiv, two men who beat and robbed a lawyer were sentenced to seven years in prison. I wonder if this is a typical sentence for such crimes in our country? Can someone explain the court's logic in determining the punishment in such cases?
