Do you think judges have the right to restrict a suspect's right to defense?

I read an article about how the High Council of Justice upheld the disciplinary action against HCJ judge Viktor Maslov, who forbade a suspect from communicating with “everyone in the world.” I’m curious, do you think judges have the right to restrict a suspect’s right to defense in this way? Do you consider this a violation of fundamental human rights?
