Can the spread of fake news about the Armed Forces of Ukraine be considered a war crime?

I recently read a news story about Russia spreading false information about the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front. I wonder if such actions can be considered a war crime and what legal consequences might await those who spread them?
