The state provides support both to the combatants themselves and to their children (up to 23 years old), if they are studying full-time in state institutions of professional (vocational and technical), professional pre-higher and higher education. This norm is specified in the Law of Ukraine "On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection".
Combatants and their children have the right to:
training at the expense of the local or state budget;
preferential long-term study loans;
social scholarships;
free provision of textbooks and access to the Internet in educational institutions;
priority accommodation and free accommodation in hostels.
