The use of plastic bags in Ukraine, the restriction of their distribution in order to improve the state of the environment and beautify the territories, is regulated by the Law of Ukraine "On Limiting the Circulation of Plastic Bags in the Territory of Ukraine". According to Art. 3 of the Law, the distribution of plastic bags is carried out exclusively on a paid basis.

The business entity is obliged to distribute plastic bags on a paid basis, except for biodegradable plastic bags and ultra-thin plastic bags of the specified parameters, and may distribute all plastic bags on a paid basis.
