Ex-boyfriend is blackmailing

Congratulations. I sent my ex a naked photo. Now he blackmails me, forces me to have sex with him or threatens to share photos on the Internet. Tell me, what are my actions? Will he get anything for distributing my photos?

Revenge porn is posting publicly available photos or videos of an intimate nature on the Internet without the consent of the depicted person. These materials are usually posted by former sexual partners as revenge or by hackers for extortion.

Sharing intimate photos without the owner's permission is a criminal offence. According to Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (extortion), the offender has no right to disseminate information that the victim or his close relatives wish to keep secret.

If you are being blackmailed, you need to immediately take screenshots of all correspondence. Next, call the cyber police at 0 800 50 51 70 or 102.

The answer is informational and does not replace a full legal consultation. For a detailed analysis of your situation, contact a lawyer directly.
