How to stay in the EU?

The validity period of the student residence permit in Vienna is expiring. She entered the EU in January 2022 with a valid residence permit. After the residence permit expires, can I stay in the EU for the duration of the visa-free period? If I go to Bulgaria for 1-2 months, will I be able to enter the Schengen area without a visa? I do not want to consider the option of applying for asylum. The documents have been submitted to the Magistrate for extension, but the waiting period is long and there is a possibility of refusal.
