Continuation of disability

04.08.2023 16:07 • Question

Disability was appointed for a period of 1 year. The term expires in October 2023.

For health reasons, during the year, I go to specialized doctors and undergo treatment in a hospital. The attending physician says that starting in September 2023, I already need to prepare documents for retaking the MSEK to resolve the issue of extending/cancelling my disability.

At the same time, I have repeatedly heard that, according to the law of Ukraine, during martial law, disability is automatically extended for the duration of martial law and another 6 months after martial law is lifted in the country. Is it true or what?

Yes, true. During war, people with disabilities do not need to re-pass the medical and social examination in order to continue their disability. Disability continues automatically without re-commission until the end of martial law and 6 months after its termination/cancellation.

The above is stated in the resolution of the CMU "Some issues of providing state social assistance during the period of martial law" No. 214 dated 07.03.2022.
